Chatuchak (Jatujak) weekend Market @ Bangkok

Chatuchak is the largest market in Thailand, and largest of the world. Getting there is relatively simple since everyone know the place. The Skytrain is an excellent alternative. Take the skytrain to the Mochit station, the last northbound station. You may take air-condition bus as well, see the map and bus number below.

You can fine information about this market easily by Google. Therefore, I will focus only on two things you may not fine it by Google. The first is pray room, then Halal food.

I spend one hour for searching “pray room” at this huge market. Just to share,

First, look for clock tower (big one because there are many small clock tower. See picture of Clock tower).

Second, near to that clock look at soi 16. you will see big Halal food restaurant.

Third, cross that soi 16/7 till the next side.

Finally, on next side go to soi 23 you will see “Kah Jak” restaurant (see the picture). Near to this you will see the pray room but you have to be very focus because it is not so clear.

Tlad eam Market

After my first day working at Bangkok in the first day of Ramadhan “Muslim fasting month”, I was worry about where to have my Iftar “Breakfast”. A year back, I use to work at “Ramadhan bazaar” in Kuala Lumpur after my office hour, now at Bangkok where I can fine “Ramadhan bazaar”?

A quick question to one of my officemate which I haven’t known her yet! “Where I can buy Halal food near by”? She answered; you may go to “Tlad Eam”.

After long discussion, how can I go there using traditional way –map drawing- and high-tech way –GPS- finally I arrived to “Tlan Eam”.

At Tlad eam, I saw the bazaar but it was very crowded. I don’t know where to park my car and I was worry. I just cross the bazaar driving through it till I found the police man who was very helpful. He helped me to park my car in position that I never think of

I was very happy because I found variety of delicious Halal food. See the photos. In additional to that, I found (Muslim pray room) as well in center of the market. It is one level building look like office but it is pray room.

Denote that this market is opened daily whole day but in ramadhan it will be very active afternoon time.

How you can get there? It located on Srinagreinra Road. If you take taxi and you said “Tlad Eam” –you should say it in soft tone (eam) otherwise the taxi driver not understand you -. If you come from On Nut place you can take yellow bus number 11 with air-condition or red bus number 11 also without air-condition. As usual if you using GPS just click on the link to Google earth map located on 13°42'47.68"N, 100°38'34.33"E.
copy the link to your browser don't click on it

Suvarnabhumi airport

If you arrived at Bangkok by airplane for sure you will step on Suvarnabhumi airport. This is the new airport in Bangkok while the old one called Don Muang and it used for domestic flights till the time of posting.

At Suvarnabhumi there is Masjid/Muslim Prayer Room at level 3 near to gate x or just follow the signboard “Muslim Prayer Room”. The room is big with man and woman partition. The Masjid has a place for “Wodow’a” and the toilets are outside of the Prayer room but near to it. This prayer room is air-condition room equipped with MIC and sound system. See the picture.

To go to Bangkok city or the center, you may take taxi or bus. Either way, you will pass through motor way (the highway). On your way, left side, you will pass through two big mosques with very nice architecture and design.

The fist mosque called “I forgot the name”. located on 13°44'5.06"N, 100°40'36.61"E Link to Google Maps

The second one is called “I forgot the name” on Klon Banma. Located on 13°44'10.95"N, 100°39'55.35"E. Link to Google Maps

Theses are not the only two mosques in Bangkok. There are many more will be highlighted in other post.
